Slides from SUGUK presentation

Really enjoyed presenting at the SharePoint User group in London last week!
I had a great time and I hope the audience got something out of it.

I intend to follow up with a few blog posts where I will talk about some of the topics covered in the presentation.

You can download the presentation here.

Great presentation. It's nice to see that great minds think alike :)

Have you considered SQL mirroring instead of SQL clustering?

Hi,

No, I have not considered it.
The reason being is that it's not a strategic solution where I work.
We are essentially provided with various solutions from the DBA team that we can consume.
In our case, SQL clustering with SAN replication was our best option.

Rickard, totally understandable with regard to services that are provided.

You made mention of using several SQL instances, would this be several SQL clusters or several named instances within a single SQL cluster.

Hi,

That would be several SQL clusters.
The reason we will go down this road next year is mainly for two reasons.
1. Backup time window - We are approaching a point where it's getting difficult to complete in time.
2. Performance - More disk, cpu and memory.. it must be agood thing :)
